Ixtapa is the government planned vacation resort area with high rise beachfront hotels and condominiums
in addition to luxury homes, golf courses and a marina. It is connected to Zihuatanejo by a four lane freeway
of 6 kms. (4 miles) that extends all the way to the international airport as well as to the entrance of
Playa Blanca's dirt road.
Zihuatanejo is the actual town town with hotels and vacation lodgings that overlook the bay as well as
stores and businesses that make up its thriving community. Its main attraction is its well protected bay
where boaters often spend the winter months and cruise ships have increasingly found it to be a must stop
on their busy itineraries. The peaceful clear waters are home to the commercial center of Playa Principal,
the exclusive homes of Contramar Beach, the tourist beaches of La Madera and La Ropa and Las Gatos Beach

On Playa Principal you'll find dozens of handy craft stalls where you can match your best bargaining skills
with the artisans there. All this shopping may make you thirsty & hungry. There are plenty of cantinas &
restaurantes with service that spills out onto the street to take advantage of the year round tropical weather.
Zihuatanejo weather is priveleged with an average temperature of 26* Celsius (79* Fahrenheit) with an
average of 300 sunny days per year, excellent for all manner of outdoor activities. The entire region makes
up one of the most beautiful beach resort area in the world. Diverse, peaceful and secluded.
