Our Beachfront Vacation Villa lies on a beautiful, unspoiled stretch of secluded sandy shoreline 14 miles south of Zihuatanejo. If getting away from the crowds and high-rise hotels is your idea of a real vacation, search no further.

Directly in front of Casa Alcatrases lays the grandness of Playa Blanca. Kilometer upon Kilometer of waves and white sand still untouched by modern trappings. A pleasant walk to the end of the beach brings you to Barra de Potosi with its many seafood restaurants that hug the edge of its mangrove filled lagoon. Here you have the opportunity to go horseback riding, kayaking, take a 'nature' boat tour, play in the surf, etc. The water is warm and clear and the waves are manageable.

Barra de Potosi is an unaffected Mexican pueblito of about 500 inhabitants making their living from the sea. You can find more than a dozen enramaradas (sand floor, palm covered cafes) competing for your breakfast and lunch business - serving cold beverages & local fresh seafood. All beach cafes provide hammocks where you can relax with a chilled cerveza, soda or even sip from a coconut freshly cut from a nearby plantation all while watching the frigate birds ride the ocean breezes.

Troncones, La Bara de Potosi, Ixtapa & Zihuatanejo, Mexico are located on Costa Grande of the state of Gurerrero fronting the Pacific Ocean about 240 kilometers (144 miles) northwest of Alcapulco. They are on Mexico's Coastal Highway MEX-200 and are only a 35 min. plane ride to Mexico city from Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo International Airport. The area is on Cental Time (CST) and is approximately due south of Amarillo, Texas. The entire coast has been aptly named by tourists as the 'Mexican Riviera'.

Ixtapa is the government planned vacation resort area with high rise beachfront hotels and condominiums in addition to luxury homes, golf courses and a marina. It is connected to Zihuatanejo by a four lane freeway of 6 kms. (4 miles) that extends all the way to the international airport as well as to the entrance of Playa Blanca's dirt road.

Zihuatanejo is the actual town town with hotels and vacation lodgings that overlook the bay as well as stores and businesses that make up its thriving community. Its main attraction is its well protected bay where boaters often spend the winter months and cruise ships have increasingly found it to be a must stop on their busy itineraries. The peaceful clear waters are home to the commercial center of Playa Principal, the exclusive homes of Contramar Beach, the tourist beaches of La Madera and La Ropa and Las Gatos Beach - the beach only accessible by water taxi. (see Beaches for full details) On Playa Principal you'll find dozens of handy craft stalls where you can match your best bargaining skills with the artisans there. All this shopping may make you thirsty & hungry. There are plenty of cantinas & restaurantes with service that spills out onto the street to take advantage of the year round tropical weather.

Zihuatanejo weather is priveleged with an average temperature of 26* Celsius (79* Fahrenheit) with an average of 300 sunny days per year, excellent for all manner of outdoor activities. The entire region makes up one of the most beautiful beach resort area in the world. Diverse, peaceful and secluded.
