Zihuatanejo – located 144 miles north of Acapulco- is the
contrast of modern Mexico. It still resembles the sleepy
fishing village it was only a few short years ago. With
a culture still relatively unscathed by contemporary times,
you will find its people pleasant and eager to please.
Its narrow cobblestone streets are lined with restaurants, shops
with local artifacts, boisterous colors, and an open-air fruit
and vegetable market.
Anglers have praised Zihuatanejo for years as the success
rates rival the best in the world. Soaring Sailfish
weighing up to 175 lbs. are the primary game during most of
the year. Black and Blue Marlin range between 275 and
400 lbs. Other game fish to be had are Yellow-Tail Tuna
up to 300 lbs. and Dorado (Mahi-Mahi) 5 to 10 miles offshore.
